Volunteer

Volunteer

From Penny Farthings to Fixies, amateurs to Elites, the London Nocturne brings fast-paced and exciting road racing right into the centre of London, as we race into the night!
We are looking for Volunteers to help us deliver the Rapha Nocturne London on Saturday 10th June 2017. Check out the FAQs below, and then head over to the Application Form to be part of the action.

What are the requirements to be a volunteer?
You must be 18 or over on the day of the event, and you must have plenty of energy. That’s it! All we are looking for is people who are pro-active, friendly, and keen to get involved.

What kind of roles are available?
We have a mix of Supervisor and Team member roles across the whole event, to support the Riders, Press, Guests and Attendees, Crew and Volunteers, and to oversee the Race Circuit.

The Supervisor roles are perfect for those looking to take on a little more responsibility. This will involve overseeing an area with Nocturne staff support, and managing a small team of volunteers.

All Supervisors must attend pre-event training on Friday 9th June to ensure they have a full understanding of their area and the event.

What does volunteering entail?
Simply put, volunteering involves helping to keep an area of the event running smoothly. Every volunteer will be assigned a role in an area such as Rider Pits where you’ll be assisting the competitors, Registration where you’ll be signing Riders in, Press area where you’ll be assisting with media and media accreditation, or Race Circuit marshalling on the course.

What are the hours required?

AM team: 6AM-2PM

On Saturday, the build team will be kicking things off bright and early, with a briefing from 6AM and then heading on to the Circuit from to deck it out in branding and set up the different areas, to make sure everything looks slick. This team will finish up by midday, meaning they can enjoy the racing throughout the afternoon.

PM team: 1PM-11:30PM

Our other volunteers will arrive just after lunchtime to check-in and have a brief. From 2pm they’ll get into action to welcome the cyclists ready for racing to start at 3pm. The event runs finishes at 10:30pm, and after branding de-rig all volunteers will clock off by 11:30pm latest.

Please note these shift times are likely to finish earlier, but you should be prepared and able to stay the full shift time.

Whilst Supervisor roles involve similar time commitments on the Saturday, Supervisors must also attend a training session on

Friday 9th which will last no longer than a couple of hours.

What is provided to volunteers?

  • Meals
  • Tea, coffee, water
  • Nocturne Volunteer T-shirt
  • Volunteer goody bag

Unfortunately we will not be able to provide nor compensate volunteers with costs incurred relating to accommodation, parking, or travel.

My friend/family member/colleague is volunteering as well – can we be paired up in the same team?
Where possible yes but please bear in mind this is not guaranteed. Make sure to make a note of anyone you would like to be paired with on your application form, or if you have already submitted a form, please email

What is the process once I have submitted the form?
Once you hit Submit, please put the date in your diary!

We will take a look at your form, figure out the best role for you, and then drop you an email to confirm your place. For any specialist roles we will be sure to give you a call for a chat first.

If you are unsuccessful, we will be sure to let you know as soon as possible.

If you don’t hear from us at all within two weeks of submitting your form, and you’ve checked your junkmail, please email or call us! We don’t want anyone to pass under the radar.
